Need Experts on this --

For better per core performance , which is better Intel or AMD ? ( For instance - Vmware virtualisation)
like i7 4XXXK vs AMD FX 83XX ?

Also how is performance on HD4600 graphics on i7's ? is it good for normal games under 720p.

Like Dota 2 or FIFA 13 and others.

In terms of Core per core performance, Intel absolutely is better than AMD, there is no doubt about that.

Generally, the integrated graphics on Intel CPUs are not fantastic, but playing older or light games at 720p should work fine. However, I would look up some benchmarks to make sure that it is enough performance for your needs.

The HD4600 is not great for gaming, but you would be able to play those games at 720p.

The thing is I ran into low budget and I wanna build the rig mostly for Vmware virtual machines and less of gaming .

So I am curious if I should buy Intel i7 47xx or AMD FX 8320 ? mob accordingly.

Also If I go with AMD FX 8320 on GA970A UD3 with R7 260x is it good ? will it run all the games.

I wanna run this machine for next 5-6 years.

Im no big fan of AMD, but at your budget it is the best choice. It will run all games for sure. But at low to medium settings. Older games at highest ofc. It will also run easily run 1080p

Or should I go for i7 47xx with a decent mobo on onbaord graphics like HD4600 .. will that be good ?

Why not an i5? It's cheaper than the i7, does just as well at games and will likely do just as well for vmware. Hyperthreading isn't all that great for vmware.

https://sudrsn.wordpress.com/2010/07/21/hyper-threading-on-vmware-vsphere/

https://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-4-esx-vcenter/index.jsp?topic=/com.vmware.vsphere.resourcemanagement.doc_41/managing_cpu_resources/c_hyperthreading.html

The i7 that would improve vmware performance would be a 6 or 8 core i7 and those would really blow the budget.

Even though the amd cores (or modules) are a bit slower core for core, this (vmware) might actually be someplace an fx 8xxx would benefit you. Vm's need physical cores to run, the 4790k still only has 4 cores regardless of how fast they are. In order to get equal cores for vm work you need true cores so a 6 or 8 core i7 (aka expensive) would be where you'd need to look. Hyperthreading won't help in this case.

OK .... then help me out here :::I want to run this machine atleast for 5-6 years.

What I want : VMware virtual machines running atleast 4 at a time.with 1 virtual CPU each.
and some gaming of games BF and FIFA 11/12/13 at 720p.
Budget -INR 40K without Monitor.

AMD RIG :

AMD FX8320 + GA 970A UD3 + 8x1 Kingston DDR3 + AMD R7 260x + 500 G WD HDD + CM EVO 212x + K/M == INR 41K approx.

vs

INTEL RIG :

INTEL XEON E3-1230 L v3 / i7 -4770/i7 4790 + Mobo ( I dont know any but should be under INR 5K) + R7 250x ( only with Xeon NOT i7) and rest is same == INR 42K approx.

Now if possible guide me through and make changes which necassary.

Also how good is Asrock B85M Pro4 Mobo for these CPU's. with stock cooler.

Smitjanisj get the first rig listed but instead of that 8320 get the 6350 or 6300 and get a 270 or 270x thats a very solid rig and will max a lot of games at 1080p

The reason for the cpu swap is that games use no more then 4 cores so haveing 8 gives you know advantage and for ur virtual machines and stuff 6 cores will serve u well so get the 6300 or 6350

Also i hate to be the guy who tells u this but no pc will stay current for 5-6 no matter how big ur budget well maybe like 15k would get u that far but the bottom line is on ur budget if u want to max games at 1080p for 2 years or more u need a serieously revamped budget.

Hope this helps.
