I have a Lenovo Y500 which turns on and then just has a black screen.
I spilled water on it a few weeks ago and since then have replaced the RAM, the motherboard and the CPU in that order. My hard drive works on another unit.
When I press the power button, the power light is on; the fan turns on; the hard drive turns on too. There is no POST and there is little to no heat from the CPU. I tried booting with just the display, the ram, the motherboard and the CPU but the same thing happens. I have tried re-seating the RAMs as well to no avail. I tried to boot with an external display too but the external display just says "no signal". I tried resetting the CMOS battery by draining it out with pressing the power button with no power or battery attached and that does not work either.
What else can I try to diagnose the part of the system that is still defective? I do not have another motherboard or CPU at hand.
Specs: CPU: i5 3210M
Motherboard: Lenovo QIQY5 D05
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900)
Thank you for helping me.
