2gb ram (or more)
able to run windows 10 preview smoothly (somewhat smoothly, not buttersmoth and not fast)
small case (micro-atx or mini-itx maximum)

This will be used dor a school project. ONboard cpu's is ok.

One of my teachers wants to show everyone how a pc works and how it's built.

no, i could use one of my old harddrive.

Nothing, dunno what the school will do with it after we have assembled it, maybe they wil be using it in the school library? But that's not important,

For that just head to your nearest second-hand store, as USAFRet suggested.

Heck in my town we have a place you can go to get used computers for free. Essentially they accept old PC equipment, build functioning systems, and give them away. They make income by recycling in bulk the parts that don't work, and write off the donations to be a non-profit. This lets people treat the donations to them as a tax write off as well.
