Hey all,

I have a Gigabyte P27 gaming notebook that came with a 1tb 7200 hdd. I have already installed a 240gb ssd into the computer and love the speed. Now I want to install a 1 tb in to the notebook to use as storage. Here is the problem, if you look at the link below and scroll down about 3/4 of the way down the page you will see the combinations of ssd and hdd that this notebook can hold.

My question is will it accept a 1tb ssd or am I stuck only being able to upgrade to 512 gb ssd max?

Here is the link,
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5052#kf

It is just unclear to me whether the computer is limited to 512 gb ssd drives max or not.

Hope you can help.

Thanks

Rob

Based on this warning:-
Code:
*The storage capacity may differ by country and region. Please contact your local dealers or retailers for the latest product information.

It leads me believe that those configurations are only the configurations that they sell, not the ones you can upgrade to after purchasing, I also see no logical reason as to why your device would be limited to 512GB.

I would say take into account that changing hardware, such as the hard-drives, may void the warranty, but other than that, you should be good.

ok what it is saying in the spec page that you posted here is it will take a 512GB mSATA SSD which is not a ssd that goes in your hdd slot,i t fit to the morthboard there is a slot on the board were it fit to like this https://www.dropbox.com/s/ynq42ir30083gf4/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X220-mSATA-Slot.jpg?dl=0.
getting back to the 1tb ssd your should be ok with that as you have tryed a 1tb hdd with no trouble. hope this help you.

all ssd have sata slots so the chose is yours and msata is not just for laptop you will find most new motherboards have them now, but if your looking to replace your hdd then any ssd will fit. but you do have a msata in that laptop and to place a 1 tb 840 in there your look about £300 + when you can get a 1tb ssd from £70 upward from amazon.
