Can you go 8x2 with a 4x2 and still get dual channel benefits?

I have 4x2 in my computer right now and am looking to upgrade. Should I get another 4x2 (it won't be exactly the same since they stopped making my ram, but the voltages [1.65] and CAS latency [9] will match), or should I get the same specs on a 8x2?

Also -- if anyone knows if I can mix 1.5v with my 1.65v that would be nice to know, since 1.5v is cheaper.

You can try, there are no guarantees, any time you mix sets of DRAM it's a crapshoot - even with two identical sets. If you try either way (8GB sticks or another set of 4GB) and have problems let me know and we can try some adjustments (with the 8GB, if they will play nice, would go 8-4-8-4 (in the slots from the CPU)
