Gigabyte g31m-es2l
intel pentium e5300 2.60hz
nvidia geforce 9800gt
psu 350w
1600x900 resolution
4gb DDR2 ram

Hey guys, I want to upgrade my graphics card since my current one (Nvidia Geforce 9800gt) doesn't support directx11. Is Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX750ti compatible or can you recommend a different/better one for no more than £150? Will I need to upgrade anything else?

I'd like to play the latest games (such as Dragon Age 3, Crysis 3) low to medium settings is fine for me. I will also be playing Sims 3. It currently takes 20 mins to load and has a lot of stutter and lag so any upgrades that could improve that would be good.

Solution
the GPU is not the only thing that needs upgrading.
even if you get 750ti, with that CPU it wont show its real performance.

if you want to play Dragon age or Crysis a CPU upgrade is also needed even for Low-Medium QUality, your CPu doesnt meet the minimum Requirements.

sigh, with that processor, there no way he can get medium setting regardless of resolution, 900p us only about 30% less pixels than 1080, getting Low on dragon age inquisition or Crysis at playable framerate is Unlikely, OP you should look at Upgrading to a g3258 or i3 if you want to play Current Games at low-medium settings.

let him try 1st and see if 30FPs on medium settings is good enough for him. - if not the he can upgrade his processor to a core i3.

the g3258 will die at the hands of crysis 3 which is very cpu intensive.

Thanks for the replies. I know my pc is old and I had a feeling I'd have to upgrade more than the graphics.

Would just buying a new budget gaming pc be better than anything I could upgrade to?

It would be easier anyway as I'm nervous about overclocking and installing upgrades myself. I was looking at this one for £300

If not that one, then any recommendations? I'd like to spend no more than £500 if buying a new one.

Btw I'm a she :D
