I am looking to upgrade my Computer by essentially building from scratch.
I currently have
Video Card- [Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 2GB Dual-X Video Card]
Power Supply- [EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply]

I am thinking of pairing it with something similar to this.

**CPU** | [Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor]
**CPU Cooler** | [Cooler Master RR-HT2-28PK-R1 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler]
**Motherboard** | [MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
**Memory** | [G.Skill Sniper Gaming Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Hard Drive Seagate Barracuda ES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

I will be buying a student copy of windows 8.1 and will be reusing my optical drive from my computer.
This runs about $500 for the items I do not need I do not want to exceed that, and if possible would like for it to be a little cheaper.

Solution
If you're looking to lower the price then the obvious choice for a gaming PC would be to drop from 16GB to 8GB of RAM. You will not notice any difference in gaming performance going from 16GB to 8GB of RAM. What other things will the system be used for?
