I just bought a R9 270x and it worked for almopst a year. Last month, my computer suddenly shut down. I checked everything and it appears that there's a wet part on the PCI-e gold contact pins. I tried to removed it, and discovered that it was corroded and some of the gold covers came off. I had no idea where the water or oil came from, and I was pretty sure that it was the reason why my graphics card doesn't have video anymore.

I sent it to the shop where I bought it for RMA and they rejected it because of the corroded part on the PCI-e pins.

My question is, is it still possible to fix this card? and is it possible that it isn't the wet substance that caused my graphics card to stop working?

by the way, the corroded part was the left part near the DVI, HDMI connectors.

I would really appreciate it you guys could give me some advice and tips to have it fixed because I would love to see it working again. I just don't want to spend any more money to buy another video card since I just upgraded my processor and I have a very limited budget for my PC parts. Thanks in advance!

I'm not 100% sure, I know if they were actually missing you could short circuit, if they are bent they could cause damage to the PCI port. As for just the gold coating being removed I'm not sure, it's a bit odd with that damage. Perhaps let it sit for a couple days to make sure it's 100% dry, it's entirely up to you if you want to see if it works again.

If it doesn't, you probably won't be able to get it to work again. You could perhaps ask in a IT store if there is anything they could do for you, if there nice they might let you know without charging you.

Sorry, can't...

I see. I've completely removed the corrosion though, it's just that the gold coat came off the pins. Do you think this will still cause harm to my motherboard?

Sorry, can't really help further, if you don't have any other questions and no one answers for awhile be sure to select a solution.
