I have the M5 A97 LE R2.0 so I'm going to assume the BIOS looks the same. You have to boot your computer and spam the F2 key to open the BIOS. From there open the Boot menu and then select CSM Compatibility (something like that). Make sure all selections either have "UEFI Only" or "UEFI First..." You shouldn't have to flash in the most current BIOS version from the ASUS website. My version was 1503 out of the box and it was quite shaky, leading to system instability, random crashes for no apparent reason, and program hangups that made the computer stop responding so hard that not even CTRL-ALT-DEL worked to bring up the task manager to force close the offending programs. All in all 1503, at least for my components, was not stable. I flashed in BIOS version 2501 and the computer is rock solid, not a crash to be had and it actually seems to run a little bit faster as well. Check YOUR BIOS version against the most current one for your motherboard on the ASUS website. If you think you need it, flash it in though beware that BIOS flashing still isn't exactly fool proof. Once you have the new BIOS (if needed) make sure the CSM options in the Boot menu are all set to "UEFI Only" or "UEFI First..." and save an exit the BIOS. On reboot, spam the F2 key again to enter the BIOS and then I believe it's F8 to boot from the list of devices. Make sure that the Windows DVD states "UEFI:[Drive Name Blablabla Whatever]" otherwise Windows will default to the BIOS version. I actually just figured out that I had my motherboard set incorrectly when I built my PC back in 2013 (I had a DoA HDD and I may have set the computer to "Legacy First..." while in the middle of trying to figure out if the HDD was bad or I had incorrect settings and forgot to change them when I got the working HDD) and my copy of Windows was installed as the BIOS version. It works but I'm scouring the Internet trying to figure out if it's worth wiping the drive and reinstalling under UEFI conditions. It may not make a heap of difference now but such a big deal was made about UEFI that I want to use it, otherwise I feel like I'm not fully using what I paid for. It's silly I know, especially since Windows is working fine, but I think the folks around here would understand that we buy new stuff to fully utilize it even if it doesn't make a perceptible difference. : )
