I have picked up a mobo and ram but am wondering if there is a compatibility issue.
When cold booting the ram is sometimes (often but not always) detected at the incorrect frequency and is always detected as 4080 M instead of 4096, and I do not share ram with an onboard video as there is no onboard video.
Cold boots especially and sometimes warm boots take about 4-7 seconds before the post even begins, and I start with just no picture.

The ram is a Gskill kit:
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900)
The mobo is an Asus:
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI

Solution
two things to check...on the mb make sure the mb has the newest bios file. if not download it to a usb stick and use the mb bios updater inside the bios to update it. if the bios file is fine make sure the ram in the a0 and b0 bank. there the two main banks. make sure the ram is locked in and there no dust or dirt on the ram pins.
