Would this FM2+ mobo need a BIOS update to go with the Athlon ii x4 860k?

The Kaveri Athlon apparently requires some motherboards to complete a BIOS update before being used... I want to avoid that. So, does my current board (an MSI A88XM-E35; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUfsG1m1IbY , http://www.msi.com/support/mb/A88XM-E35.html#down-bios ) support an Athlon 860k right out of the box? As you can see it says so on the MSI website, but it doesn't specify whether a BIOS update is necessary... how would you be able to tell, anyway?

Looks like the earliest version BIOS (whats usually installed natively out of the box) is Version 7721Vu0. The Athlon X4 860K requires 7721Vu2, so it appears that a BIOS update is required.

Okay that makes sense. How do you know for certain that it doesn't have the correct version?
And, do you reckon I should just update it (I've heard BAD stuff happening though if it screws up); get a 760k + mild overclock, or just save for a few months and go intel with only a core i3? (From what I've read, the AM3+ socket is coming to an end so unsure whether to get an FX6300)

P.S: CPU-Z says that the BIOS Version is: V30.0 if that helps?

You'd have to download and unzip the BIOS package from MSI to determine what's included.

Okay, going to play it safe and just get a 760k + OC to 4.1GHZ (don't want to adjust the stock V so that's roughly the max I'll get).
