I was given an old laptop hard drive by my friend and they would like me to recover the data off of it. The laptop that they had broke but the laptop was still functioning. How can I recover the data off that hard drive and put the stored data onto my hard drive?

Remove the hard drive and put into an external enclosure to make it as an external USB drive. Make sure the enclosure is compatible with hard drive connection (SATA or IDE).

With this, I won't need an external enclosure right? I simply connect this to the hard drive and plug the USB into my computer. Get the data needed and put it on my external hard drive?
