Can i copy os from one drive to another

hi, i have a 60gb ssd on my pc and it has ran out of space so i want to upgrade to a 120 gb ssd but would i be able to just move all the files including the os to the new drive?

The SSDs have migration software, usually. I know if you get a samsung drive, it comes some really comprehensive software.

ive tried that but when i boot it says that something is missing and i have to insert a windows repair disk but when i do that it says it is a different version of windows so it cant be repaired

It would be much easyer to just make fresh install on the new drive and move your files (photos/videos/music/docs)
If you have your windows CD and you are using either windows 7 or windows 8 its almost fully automatic installation, ofc you would have to update drivers after the install but thats easy enough.
I wouldnt normally recommend cloning your OS to another drive on a home pc cause you would want to clean all those small bugs and unnecessary programs you installed over time and now you dont use or rarely use
