I installed new RAM about a month ago, so I am not overly worried, just a bit concerned because I know my computer never made this noise before. It just sounds like a clicking noise my old computer used to make when I accessed my secondary hard-drive after it was idle for so long, Except now it is at no specific time, just random.

New Ram Installed: Team Xtreme 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 Dual Channel
Motherboard: AsRock Z77 Pro3

It might be cause your motherboard supports up to 2400MHz 32GB RAM, you have your memory is dual-channel mode.
Dual-channel RAM makes your RAM faster, it might be overloading the support of your motherboard RAM speedz.

Please don't call me dumb, I don't know about RAM conflicts.

I wouldn't be able to see where it comes from because it doesn't happen very often, and when it does it is just a short noise, I wouldn't have time to get down there to check. I'm pretty sure it's not a hard drive noise anyway, I don't think it was there before.

Hmmm well, what if it is coming from the memory or motherboard even though it passed memtest86 tests, would a random noise like once or twice a day be a bad thing?

Once or twice a day?
Why are you even complaining? (Not in a rude way)

I thought it was somewhere around twenty times a day.

But you can leave your case open and leave it idle while having a camera above it, that way you can look back at your computer and pause.
(Sounds dumb)

I'm not complaining, I'm asking if there might be an issue that someone might know of.

I don't have a sound camera and asking a regular video 'where that noise came from' can only lead to funny answers like that of an awesome adventure game lol.

How can you determine where a noise came from watching a video? When I said "sound camera" i meant a special camera with built in tech that determines and records where sound comes from.

Okay I get it. :p Thanks for explaining that.

But I'm almost positive it isn't an HDD, I let the computer run idle for hours, then went into the drives in my computer and don't get any noises then. Plus I'd have to leave it recording forever for how often I hear the noise.

But then at the same time, you said there is no moving parts in the memory, so does that mean it can't be coming from the memory or motherboard? If that is the case, then I should be fine.

Sorry, it just seemed like you kept repeating yourself with the same response.

Anyway, the noise started to become a lot more frequent, so I lowered the frequency of my memory from 1800 to 1600 (1600 is max for my Intel Quad Core i5 3330 Processor), and the noise became less frequent. So then I adjusted the timings to what my memory specified (from 8-9-9-24 to 10-12-12-31) because my motherboard used the lower numbers automatically when I installed the memory. And as soon as I did this, the noise stopped and I haven't heard it at all a day later, I just hope everything is fine. I'll let you know.

I am even more sure the noise was coming from the CPU, RAM or something inbetween, because it stopped when I changed the settings, plus when I heard it more frequently, I was able to notice it wasn't anything like a hard drive sound, it was a squeeky noise that I cannot describe.

<--- EDIT over 2 weeks later -->

Yes, the noise went away after changing those settings, so I really believe it was coming from the motherboard, memory or cpu.
