Im a noob please help

I have recently built a gaming pc and had a few problems. I have just purchased the Msi gtx 970 and installed it but getting really bad fps like 10 on some games. Here are my specs

Corsair cw 500w psu
Asus m5a78l-m/usb3 mobo
Amd fx 8320
Msi gtx 970 gaming
16gb corsair vengeance 1066

I was using a Msi radeon r9 270 which was working fine but now ive installed the 970 which is supposed to be tons better and now im having major lag even on games like minecraft, alien isolation is all jittery and major frame drops.

Ive spent a fortune already and i really dont want to spend any more if I can help it.

Hi, Overclock the cpu to at leat 4.0. Trust me it helps

Thanks for your reply tinmann. I did that but still had the same problem, not sure if i did it right. I used the x multplyer option in bios and it said it was at 4.02.

there is no need for an overclock, if anything avoid overclocking with that motherboard if you dont want it to fry or be damaged, obviously there is something wrong if your games are running at 10fps, did you uninstall all AMD drivers? from the registry, hidden files etc, its likely Driver's are your problem

GTX 970 had a problem, i also had a problem with mine. Stuttering and etc!

Yes i followed a video on youtube and removed all ati drivers and when i search for the drivers none are found. I was thinking maybe uninstall the nvidia card and reinstall it.

When i played Next car game i would get like 1 second of really good frames then about 7 seconds of really bad frames and it would keep repeating this.

Also I used fraps to see what fps i was getting and on certain games it would show 100fps but the counter was fluctuating at 100 miles per hour that it was hard to get a proper reading. But in game it was clearly not playing at 100fps as much as it wanted to.

In the end I built a whole new rig.

Intel I7 4790k
Msi Gaming 5 mobo
Msi Gtx 970
Corsair vengeance ddr3 ram 1066
Corsair RM 750
Corsair h110 water cooler
Nzxt h440 case
Crucial 250gb SSD

Running nice at the minute. Glad i spent the extra to get the job done. Thanks for your help anyway people.
