Hi, i'm contemplating whether going with AMD or Intel for my CPU. I know Intel is usually the way to go, but i'm wondering where AMD processors stand in 1440p gaming. I will primarily be gaming in 1440p so which of the two would be better suited for so? For example something along the lines of an FX-8350 vs an i5-4690. Also i have heard that AMD CPU's perform slightly better with AMD GPU's, is there any truth to that statement?

I really don't believe AMD runs better with AMD an so forth when it comes to graphic cards, you'll always hear people with different opinions but I myself prefer everything Intel however I like my AMD cards. It really comes down to personal preference.

From the two you mentioned, I'd certainly go for a i5-4690K (I'm actually planning to get that CPU with my next build). Since it's overall better. To your primary question, in simple terms no. It will not make a difference in gaming itself, most GPU's only utilize 4 cores and both have that amount. The 8350's extra cores might help with other tasks like video rendering/editing etc but it shouldn't make any difference with gaming. (Unless you are running two R9 280s or something).

Hope...

Just go Intel and never look back... AMD CPUs are 3 years old technology by now, it's practically ancient, they can only compete because they are sold dirt cheap and you can overclock all of them to increase value, but that's it.

Ik i will take heat for saying this but amd is a worthy choice for small budget builders, That said i take it u are not on to tight of a budget if ur shooting for 1440p

Full rig

Intel i5 4690k

cpu cooler cooler master hyper 212 evo its cheap its a legend

gpu 2 msi gaming 4g gtx 970 or 980s or just single 970 would do u fine or single 980... u get the point

mobo msi z97 gaming 5 or gaming 7 or gaming 9 i have the gaming 7 its great i also have a gaming 3 but it does not support sli but if ur doing one card only get the gaming 3

memory 8-16 gb of corsair vengance if 16 get 2 8gb sticks if 8gb get 2 4gb sticks

storage is up to u i recommend in intel 730 ssd for boot and a few games and then 4tb hdd for mass storage

case up to i recommend the define r4 or r5 but u can find some great deals on the r4 i have the r4 LOVE it

power supply evga supernova g2 750 enough for 2 gpus or just one i choose this supply because its just the best no argument to be made i have 2 there great.

os up to u but 7 profesoinal is the best i think
