I've been looking over my gaming rig for awhile now and I'm thinking it is about time to upgrade a few more parts in it. Right now I'm running a i7 920 2.66 ghz with 8 gigs of ram a 60 gig ssd and my newer msi 3 gig 7970 twin frozr all on a asus p7p55d-e pro board. Doing some bookmarks it seems like my cpu is my bottleneck now but it still seems pretty fast to me. I do have a few bucks laying around and was thinking about upgrading things to this setup using my current 750 power supply and the same graphics card.

Was thinking about going with water cooling too but still not sure about it i've been running a cooler master hyper 212 for years so may just get another one of those for this setup too. just need advice if its worth upgrading or should I hold out for a bit longer. Thanks for your help.

Thanks a lot for you help I will hold off and wait for Skylake to come out. I had no idea about this chipset even being released anytime soon and from what I see it should be coming out later this year I can wait that long. For now I'll just upgrade my ssd and leave it at that since they've gotten way cheaper since I purchased my tiny 60 gig one years ago. Thanks again.

Thanks I had my current cpu overclocked awhile back I don't even remember why I turned the oc off. Lol. Think I will have to crank it back up again.

Just to share what I've done and am doing:
I have my 920@ 4.0, with corsair h60 cooler and gtx970@1200ish Mhz.
I should have the noctua nhd14 this weekend and hopefully with better temp I'll juice it up to 4.3Ghz.
I'm still liking my 920.

I love my 920 still but my system has been giving me a few issues recently. I haven't really tuned it and updated things in awhile so that could be it since now it's basically a gaming box and dvr system. I'm just gonna have to fun a few things and crack the case open to make sure everything in there is tidy and connected properly. Who know's what people do to my system when I'm not home. I'm still thinking about upgrading to a new build first chance I get.
