Hardware question: Is upgrade from GTX 560-Ti to 960 worth it with current hardware?

I'm running an i7-960 with 12GB RAM with a 560-Ti. The 560's been great, but I'm getting the upgrade bug. Should I get the 960? It's in a nice price range. Although, I could probably also go with the 970...

My Mobo is PCIe 2.0, so am I wasting the upgrade on a PCIe 3.0 Video Card? I know my hardware's getting dated, but still running strong and with good performance so far. But if the bottleneck negates any performance increase, I'll not waste my $$$.

at the moment there is no bandwidth issue on non extreme hardware between pci-e 2 and 3, so no problems there, were there a 2x970 then there might be an issue.

I'd say that 560ti to 960 would be a nice jump.

given that a 760 is a bit slower than a 960 then this is a good indication imo.

I'm really looking forward to cooler performance (I've read the fans don't kick off so early on a specific build) and less power consumption, which makes the 960 so attractive to me. Glad to know there's not a HW issue yet.
