^ not really mate no .
You may be able to push to 3.8-4ghz max if you're lucky but then your board may throttle.
Personally don't think its worth the risk - strange that the 2 earlier board revisions support 125w chips though.
Can i overclock higher if I disable 2 cores?
Maybe, but why spend the extra money on a 6 core cpu if you only intend to use 4?
Games that only use 2 cores
^as in what games exactly??
there are 3 golden requirements for overclocking an fx cpu.
1. A decent motherboard
2.A decent aftermarket cooler
3. A decent psu.
I have no idea of points 2 & 3 ,but as stated its not a particularly decent motherboard.
In theory yes you can drop 2 cores in bios & push to 3.8ghz which will in essence make it an fx4300 still running at a 95w tdp.
That board runs an old amibios though, the voltage regulation is not intelligent & it will still likely be pushing 1.3v or so (stock 6300 voltage) through the vrm's - theyll still be dispersing more than the rated 95w tdp & are still going to get hot hot hot.
Youll get literally no benefit as under heavy single core or dual core loads the 6300 boosts to 3.8ghz on 2 cores anyway - the boost function is designed for exactly these kind of low core threaded apps to work this way.
