I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong topic, I wasn't at all sure where it fit in.
I use Dxtory to record gameplay footage on my laptop. Generally a gaming session runs for hours and I would like to be able to record continuously, or at the very least to record the majority of our play time. After a time Dxtory stops recording automatically. If I hit the key to resume recording it does not resume. if I alt-tab, or quit out and drag the recorded file out of the folder it is recording to, then enter the game again and hit the button it still won't resume recording. If I restart the computer and try it all again Dxtory will not record again either. I actually need to process the file, meaning edit and render it into a .avi file (what I upload to YouTube) or delete the recording file and then Dxtory will allow me to record again.
The rendering can take around 30 or 40 minutes for the longer game clips. So to play for an hour, stop, render a video (45 minutes), and then log back in to play again is terribly inconvenient to myself and the crew I play with. In games like DayZ, Rust, or H1Z1, when you never know when the interesting stuff will happen it's tough to just record when something good happens because you miss much of it. Anyway, we always end up with more content than Dxtory will currently allow me to record.
I have Dxtory record right to a folder that is on my desktop. The laptop itself isn't running out of memory because once I edit and render the files, sometimes not reducing the size at all, I can record again.
I am no tech whiz by any means and would appreciate any help at all. I could also try to answer any questions if I need to clarify anything. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
