Hello!

I recently purchaced a custom built gaming computer from a friend.

This computer is old, but runs fairly nice.. except when it comes to gaming.

I tried to play one of the new CoD games but learned the GPU (EVGA GeForce GTX 285) does not support DirectX 11.

I went out and bought a new GPU (EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti) thinking there would be no hitch.

The card was installed into the machine correctly, but upon booting up this thing the screen goes black just before the windows logo appears and then it reboots again.

What's in the box:

1 x Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield Quad-Core 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Processor BX80601920

1 x EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

1 x CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-850TX 850W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V v2.91 SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS Certified Power Supply

1 x EVGA 01G-P3-1285-AR GeForce GTX 285 SC Edition 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Videocard

I'm trying to install:

1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti with G-SYNC Support 2GB GDDR5 128bit, Dual-Link, DVI-I, HDMI, DP Graphics Card (02G-P4-3751-KR)

Any and all help is appreciated!

Solution
There's a 2011 bios available for your board which enables compatibility with uefi based cards ,the 750ti is such a card.
That 2009 bios you're running is from before the era of these cards.
A bios update should sort your problem out.

Putting the old card in is the only way to get it to work; I've tried with 2 different graphics cards and they both do the same thing. Initially I thought the motherboard was simply "too old" for the new card. And okay I'll try it.

Uninstalling from control panel is not as thorough as DDU.
It leaves traces of the driver behind and may cause conflicts when you change to different GPU model completely.

DDU is by far the best option because after using it, it is as if you have never installed any GPU at all.

I shall do that. The card does not require a power supply.

After clearing the CMOS the issue still remains! Again restarting just before the Window's Logo. It beeps once before starting, then beeps once everytime it reboots.

How would I go about checking that?

[EDIT]

So i've downloaded the newer bios and it is in an ISO format. When I look into it there is nothing there. "0 files, 0 bytes" however it has a size of 1494 KB. How do I flash this new bios?
