Hi,

Here is my setup:
PC (desktop) connected through wire to the Modem

Router connected through wire to the Modem - This is basically extending the Wifi. I turned off the modem's own WiFi as it's only used to connect to the PC.

TV connected to the router through wire

Setup image: http://i.imgur.com/EFSP7yb.png

Now I would like to build a HOMEGROUP or a SHARED NETWORK where I can send files, photos, videos from PC to the TV.

Also, if I can do the same through my tablet (Surface PRO, which connects through the router's WiFi network).

Unfortunately I cannot find the HOMEGROUP I creatd\ed on my PC to join through my tablet. Neither am I able to find my TV on my network through my PC.

I keep finding problems without any solutions. What seems like an easy task has blown itself into nothing-seems-to-work-together.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
AJ

The modem is actually a modem/router combination device. Having two routers will cause sharing issues if you have devices connected to both (operating two different subnets).

You need to do one of two things:

1) Connect all devices to your router-only device (will cause double NAT issues if you don't disable the router functions of the modem).

2) If you want to continue using the router functions of your modem, configure the router as an AP.
