Will my EVGA Supernova 850 PSU be enough for my computer?

Solution
That PSU is VERY good quality and it could easily run your system with TWO 290x's in it. You have no issues and it is in fact quite a waste for your system.

I dabbled with the idea of getting a GTX 970 for the efficiency (and I like Nvidia more, anyway), but with the whole 3.5 gb controversy, I thought it would be a smarter decision to go with the 290x at the moment versus the 980 at > $500+

Oh yeah, definitely. I would've loved to get the 970 over the 290x for 1/2 power (and therefore heat), but I was just looking at the future. One day when we do indeed need 4 gb of ram accessible, I would hate to be kicking myself in the arse about it. Also, nvidia sure is making butts of themselves over the whole ordeal, anyway.

You will not need 4gb Vram EVER if you only play at180p or 1440p.

Nvidia didn't do anything wrong. Everyone is just mad for no reason. The card performs exactly he way it should and the 3.5gb Vram doesn;t affect anything. People are blowing it WAY out of proportion.

I also agree with that statement. I think AMD has people trying to keep this blown up in consumer minds while they struggle to make their latest graphics architecture more power-efficient like Maxwell.

i wont let this become a "290x vs 970" competition thing, but the 290x is ALOT better for rendering ( for example rendering a self-made game in unreal engine 4 abut 1/3 of the speed of my 970...) but 970 is just as good as the 290x for gaming, and with lower power consumption (not alot tough)
