My router is in a different room then my computer, and I decided to try to hide an Ethernet cable under my rug through the hallway to connect to my laptop and my gaming PC once I get it. The room that the wifi is in and my room with the computer is about 30 feet apart and both on the second floor, but since I will be hiding the wire under the carpet and most likely behind my bed and to my desk so you cant see the wire through the carpet, I might need a 50 foot wire, if they make them that big. If they do, I would like something cheap, but good condition and sturdy so it would be easy to push the wire through, under the rug instead of having to remove the whole carpet. Would this be too far away from each other and will it cause lag for gaming and going in the internet, or would to be good? Or, if I am better off using another option like wireless adapters or powerline adapters, please tell me (The wireless adapter or the powerline would be for once I get my gaming PC, I don't need it now because I am using a laptop, but I can get the Ethernet as soon as possible for now and for the PC). Thanks for the help!

You do not want to run the wire under the carpet anyplace someone will walk it will damage the wire over time. What most people do is just pull the very edge of the carpet up and run it along the wall. Most times there is enough gap to push the wire under the baseboard without even messing with the carpet...most times there is a small gap between the actual wall and the carpet edge under the baseboards.

Some people also pry off the baseboards and run the wire behind. Base board most times has a small gap on the back side used to fit uneven walls.

Ethernet cable is very flexible so you will not be able to push it under anything but it is very easy to work with. You can though tap it to wood or plastic rods and pull it though longer areas you can not reach.

They make cables in almost any length you can think of up to 100 meters and if you really have to have it you can get them say at 27.25 feet if you want to have them custom made. Just search for cat5e patch cables....the local home improvement store and even walmart will sell some limited lengths.

You will always be best using ethernet and even though it may take a while to get installed neatly once it is in you generally never need to worry about it ever again. powerline and wireless being electronic devices that transmit radio signals you can never be 100% certain of.
