MSI X99S SLI PLUS motherboard usb ports running in 2.0 instead of 3.0

Just built this pc, all brand new hardware. Everything seems to be running ok except the usb 3.0 ports are running in 2.0 mode. Where do I start?

Hello have you installed the latest drivers? What OS are you using?

You need to install the USB 3.0 usb controller with comes with your motherboard CD. If you don't have it, download it here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=21129

i guess i have the same problem, but everything software wise is installed. i was trying to figure maybe it has something to do with the USB 3.0 header on the motherboard. I have two of them once is connected with the front panel and the usb 3.0 are doing just great and the other is empty.

I still havent found a solution. All of my drivers were updated when I posted this. I did find the two of the ports on the back are running in 3.0 mode. Its the two right above the ethernet port. Let me know if you figure it out.

All back USB ports are supposed to be USB 3.0 except the two upper ones. i am still trying to figure it out.

The blue usb port is the 3.0. The black ports are 2.0. Here is a link just in case you got them confused:

The one on left is usb 2.0 and the one on the right is 3.0
