Hi guys, (First post woot!)
looking into investing in a second 500gb Samsung 840EVO and whacking them in RAID0 (bit of a speed freak.) I have a couple of questions regarding the practibility of this however. Please let me know what you guys know in your libraries of mental knowledge
1) Operating system
- Currently running Windows 7 Home Premium at 64 Bit, Heard several things about RAID controller compatibility but wanted to make sure this was the possible.
2) Available storage in RAID0
- Are we looking at Faster speed AND 1TB, or only 500gb and a 50% Storage cut for faster speed?
3) Data Transfer to new array
- This is going to sound crazy, but I am no longer in possession of my Win7 installation disk and have lots of data I would like to maintain, so let me know if this is possible. (Using SeaGate Diskwizard)
Clone my current SSD to a hard drive I have available > Boot from the HDD > Install and set up the RAID array > Clone HDD Back to RAID Array > Boot as if nothing happened in RAID0 > ????Profit
Please let me know if there are any issues with this as well as any suggestions you have. Many thanks,
Tuton7
EDIT - Many thanks to all of you that replied, I won't be going to RAID 0 in light of this, but this fellow directly answered all Questions. Thanks all.
