I have an i7 4770k and its running at 50 degrees idle and going up to the 90's when under load, I dont understand what to do, I think my watercooling isn't working properly but I have no idea how to be sure.. please help, I'm getting scared that its going to fry the cpu

Solution
Don't panic mate. First things first. Clean all the dust out of your system and then double check all your fans are set up right.
Also remove any overclock you have and make sure it is running at stock speeds.

If that doesn't work do not remove the processor to check the heat spreaders (I meant to say thermal paste).
Get as much advice as you can and seek professional help if you run out of options.
Professional help will be useful for making sure you keep your warranty if anything has gone wrong with the CPU.

Also what is the temperature in your room?
This tends to be more common over Summer when its already over 30 degrees inside.

I cleaned all the dust out of the fans and the water cooling radiator, turned my overclocks off and reapplied thermal paste, my temps are a lot better now but because it's about 40 degrees here in Australia at the moment I assume that has something to do with why it was so hot

I'm super glad to hear it went well and there was no damage to the CPU. Yeah room temperature makes a difference. On a 35 degree day you can end up with temps measuring 15 degrees higher than what you would on a 20 degree day. I'm an Aussie too.

Keep your system cleaned about every four months to keep that air flow working and feel free to overclock again once the weather cools down. Its a very regular problem once the weather heats up.

The reason I worried about removing the CPU and re-applying thermal paste if it wasn't working properly is because last time I helped someone clean their system and re-arrange their fan we discovered damaged pins on the CPU as well. I get the feeling its hard to get it replaced under warranty if that's the case. As I bet many manufacturers would try to claim it wasn't their fault.

I was getting worried that you might find the same thing.
