I was lucky enough to get a hold of an LG 27" IPS monitor recently for very cheap. This model:

LG 27MP65HQ 27" LCD Monitor AH-IPS (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005623&cm_re=27MP65HQ-_-24-005-623-_-Product)

I was hoping to upgrade my current setup of 3 23" monitors, using the 27" as my main display - IDEALLY I'd love to find monitors I could set up on either side in portrait mode (initially 1 on each side, maybe 2 on each side eventually!) So the layout would be:

[Portrait] - [27" Landscape] - [Portrait]

or (in my dream setup!):

[Portrait] - [Portrait] - [27" Landscape] - [Portrait] - [Portrait]

I've been beating my head against the wall trying to do the math on what size and resolution monitor would be best to use in a portrait orientation that would come even CLOSE to the viewable area of the main monitor (~13.25"). I'm not *completely* hung up on super-thin bezels and matching cabinets, either (though it would be a huge plus)!

Any help available?

Thanks in advance!

21-23 inch monitors at 1080p would be fine. As for portrait mode, any VESA compatible monitor with a mount that can articulate to the portrait scheme is all you need.

So far every monitor of that size, and beyond (I've looked at 17 - 22 inch widescreens) have been FAR bigger when put in portrait mode; their width is always at least a few inches greater than the height of the 27" monitor.

I see how the resolutions would match up, thank you. And I don't need a perfect match. But I was hoping someone might be able to point me to a monitor that would come close in terms of size...
