Anyone know if an Intel HD Graphics 4400 card can be used to play the Total War series

i have a brand new notebook with an intel HD graphics card 4400. I read online that some people are able to play Rome Total War I and II with an earlier model graphics card but my game won't even launch. I have a few days to decide whether to return the computer or buy a new one. This is the only issue I have with this computer - can't play Rome, can't play Medieval Total War. Anyone know the answer? I'd rather keep the computer than return and shell out another $$$ for an alienware

HD 4400 graphics should do fine with the first game. The second, I'm not so sure and personally wouldn't risk it without more feedback from others who may have run it.

Edit: I looked up a few benchmarks and it would appear that you can run Total War: Rome II using Intel's HD 4400 graphics, but you may have to use the lowest graphics settings available to get playable frame rates.

It's just odd...I have a desktop with a NVidia card and we can play all the Total War series without any problem, but I have yet to figure out how to get the graphics set to the lowest level on this HD 4400. I can't even get any game to launch. When I ran the "can I run it" software, the big culprit fingered was the HD 4400, which is my focus now.
