So Hello, I'm building a gaming PC for about 400€ and i was wondering, what cpu should i get...At first I thought an i3 was a really good option because of it's excellent single-core performance (that's a requirement for the games I'll be playing) Then i realized a dual core won't cut it in the future so i found a good deal on eBay for a Phenom x4 (45€). It has 4 physical cores and has decent single core performance (unlike the FX chips) and OCing will only extend it's lead there (btw i already have an aftermarket cooler) So what's my safest bet?

Solution
The Phenom II X4 965 BE is getting out dated in the performance aspect. Even OCed they rarely hit over 4.0 GHz and suck tons of electricity. In gaming performance the Intel CPU will meet or even beat the Phenom II's. I recommend getting the i3 with a motherboard capable of handling a better CPU for a future upgrade. this way you can get the 4 core CPU you will need in the future but stay in your budget for now.
