XBMC Device connect to FreeNAS?

I currently have a FreeNAS box set up with all of my media. My question is: If I get a raspberry pi and have it run XBMC. Can I then connect the raspberry pi via HDMI to my TV, and have it access all of the media on my NAS? In short can an XBMC Pi access media from a NAS? Thanks in advance! I am pretty sure it can, but I am new to this and want to make sure before I do anything.

Yes it can. I am currently doing that as we speak.

I would wait and get a pi 2 its same price with double ram and 6x the performance

Also recommend OpenELEC as a HTPC/XBMC/Kodi distrobution. Its the best HTPC distro. It also has special builds optimized just for the rpi and rpi2
