I just built a computer and it was working fine. I don't have it in a case so I have been using a screwdriver to turn it on. The motherboard had jumpers on the USB pins that I took off, to try to make a power switch with them while i waited for my case to arrive, so I didn't have to keep using a screwdriver. Now when I turn on the PC it just shows the motherboard screen and then gets an error screen saying, "No keyboard detected, USB device over current status detected, system will shut down in 15 seconds." I don't have anything plugged into the ports and when I have the keyboard plugged in, the indicator lights don't light up. I need help to figure this out please.

Solution
My guess is there's something under or on top of the motherboard that is shorting out some pins either on the connector or on one of the chips. That's one of the things a case prevents.

Since the standoffs for the motherboard usually come with the case I'm guessing you just have it sitting flat on something and have no ground connection to mounting holes.

You may have damaged it but it may work OK when mounted in the case.
