I have an IPS monitor namely Asus VX239H. Used it for just one month and it broke down on normal usage.

Note:
1. Monitor power LED indicator does not turn to orange anymore. Always white.
2. Screen goes black for a couple of seconds and returns back with no errors. (checked event logs and taskbar notifications.)
3. Since monitor has HDMI outputs, and Palit GTX 970 has dvi, display port, and mini HDMI, I bought a cable with HDMI on the other end and mini hdmi on the other.
4. After a month of normal usage the monitor died. Power is on but no display.

Got a replacement monitor, same brand. And the symptoms are starting to show again. I was scared that this monitor will die again. I think it was the "HDMI to mini HDMI" cable so I went to "VGA to VGA with DVI adapter" cable. Now observing this configuration if the sudden black out will happen again?

Anyone experienced this? What did you to to fix this? I still wish to use HDMI over VGA. But in my naked eye I am not seeing any difference with regards to color between the two cables....

Solution
try the monitor on another pc to see if it the pc or the monitor. if the monitor works fine on another pc then check bios settings see if the mb falling over to onboard video. also check the video and chipset drivers to rule out damage driver. if the monitor has the same error on another pc. try seeing if there firmware fix for it from asus if not conatct the seller and get a refund for it or asus for a replacement. with any electronic part now there always a set about of units that are doa or fail within 30 days. vendor expect a percent of there hardware to be doa units.

Well actually when I received my newly replace by Asus monitor I reformatted my PC and update all drivers to the latest. That is why I am surprised to see the symptoms coming back. My first monitor I bought last November 13 and since December it si already showing the symptoms and until finally last January 9 it died out, power led is white but no output. Tested the defective monitor to other PC but still no outpu.

Tried other monitor to my PC and it worked so I suspect that the monitor was broken. And after a month of waiting they replace the monitor with a brand new but same model last February 5. So on February 6 I tested and the monitor is working fine. I reformatted my PC. and today February 7, symptoms shows up like power led always white, screen goes black for a couple of seconds and goes back again without any errors (same symptoms I got before). Now i tried to use VGA to DVI connection instead. I feared that they might not replace the monitor again? They replaced the monitor because they can't repair or they can't diagnose the root cause.

check the outlet that your using. make sure it grounded and check it output. if it too high or two low it can burn out your monitor. on monitor make sure the display pins are fine and cable not broken. last issue could be voltage spiking your monitor from the gpu or a bad gounding of the pc. I would rma the gpu at the same time to rule out the video cards.

As for the time that the monitor was for repair. I still used the same computer with another LCD monitor and plugged into the same outlet. For the whole month the old LCD monitor work out just fine. So I don't think the issue is with the GPU or outlet? But on the old LCD monitor I was using the VGA to DVI cable. So my first guess that it was my after market HDMI to mini HDMI cable. I'm tyring this now using my VGA to DVI. I doubt I will ever face that same symptoms again (cross fingers) because I did not experienced the symptoms using my old LCD monitor.
