i have

Asus G56jk Laptop
i7-4710 2.50ghz
12 gb ram
Nvidia geforce GTX 850m
all drivers updated.

Im playing mostly WoW right now. I know im on a laptop, but my system was sitting pretty at 60 fps on medium to medium high settings most of the time. However, my system is showing about 12-15 fps on low settings in an area with no traffic. Im utterly confused. my overall system speed seems to have been cut in half randomly about 2 months ago, and ive had it for about 10 months. Im not extremely computer savy, but know enough to usually trouble shoot my own problems. however, im stumped here and any help at all would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

I have stress tested the computer over night with Prime95 v28.5 and found no errors or anything along those lines. I will use another program tonight to test the ram specifically i suppose. Im not sure i will stress test the video card until i find a more reliable program. every one ive found so far has given me warnings that it might fry my card lol.

This happened to my guild master a few months back too, I think along side a game update. Also on an nvidia mobile gpu. A simple install of the latest drivers and letting nvidia experience set wow up for him fixed it.
