Hi, I am trying to install a fresh version of Mac OSX on my late 2009 iMac after a hard drive failure (blinking folder icon with question mark). I have tried using the install discs that I recieved with the Mac, the recovery partition and a OSX Snow Leopard Install disc but none have worked. I cannot boot from the CD Drive or the Hard drive. BTW my iMac disc drive is broken so I am using an Apple Superdrive. I am also not very good with Macs, so if there is any other way to just wipe the HDD clean please tell me, I dont care about the data on the Mac, I have document back ups. Thanks

Hi, so I think I found out the problem, I was accidently using the wrong OSX install disc. The problem now however is that the original disc is scratched and even though it is recognized it fails to boot to OSX installer. Do you know if there is a way I can get a dmg or iso for the original instal discs? I also have a Mac OSX Leopard Install discbut as I understand it, I have to install the original OS first

Well actually, the optical drive was having problems before, my dad accdently tried to stick an SD card into it (I know, I know) and we never got it fixed though they did get the SD card out.
