Why wouldn't a PC start after being off for a week

This is a problem I've had with two different PCs, completely different parts save for the case and a secondary HD.

Whenever I go too long without using it, when I come back I get nothing. The computer does power on, just no booting. It doesn't make a lick of sense to me, yet it's a consistent problem.

What could be the cause and a solution?

Try changing the CMOS battery on the motherboard (most of them are 3v CR2032 but you'll know what to get from what's printed on the old one). And remember, + side facing up when you fit new one.

Buy new battery from a reputable vendor as some "cheapo" vendors sell batteries which have been on their shelves that long they are already low on remaining voltage.

Just tried that, didn't work though. I don't think it's related to the battery because it's a recurring problem and it only happens if I leave the computer turned off for like a week or so.

Okay after booting a ton of times trying different video entrances/devices it worked. As soon as windows initialized to the desktop screen it restarted. After that it worked normally for a while until instantly the video signal was lost, audio disappeared and USB entrances stopped working.

Every cooler fan was still running, no odd noises were heard or anything like that.

What could possibly be the cause and how the hell is leaving the computer off causing this?

Is there some basics to computer care that I'm disregarding here, anything related to leaving your computer off for a week at a time? Because this doesn't make sense to me. Two machines with almost completely different components giving me problems whenever I leave them off for a week or two. Sometimes I'd see problems for not using it after a couple of days?

Could there be problems to my environment? I do live close to the ocean, maybe salt getting to my PC somehow and leaving it off allows the salt to build up better or something? Is there a precaution I should take before turning my PC on?

As you can see I'm grasping at straws here, this is a recurring problem for many years and I can't make it go away. I've recently cleaned my PC, I made sure I bought good parts for it, no no-name brand cheap stuff.

This thing's just immensely frustrating because I've no idea what's going on or how to fix it, it's so random. Like why would the computer even start in the first place if it showing a problem like this.
