Hello there ;)

Ive been searching about this on the 'net , but didn't find any concise or safe answer about this.

I currently have a 2x2gb DDR3 1600mhz CL7 Ripjaws.

Wanted to expand to 8gb. But can not find any "new" CL7 Ripjaws Memories.

I've been only able to find Ripjaws 1600mhz 2x2gb CL9.

Can I safely buy them knowing that it will work?, Will the mother adjust the timer automatically?, Will I have to do something else?
..

What I did find was some guy selling the same pack I own, but as "used", and at the same price as the "new" CL9.

So, what do guys think I should do?, Buy the CL9 Memories or the Used CL7?

Thanks ;)

You will need to set the memory timings in the bios by hand. The MB bios will not auto adjust. Also you will have to set them to the exact same values. In this case match the CL9 set as you can be sure the CL7 can run at the looser timings. You should not experience any loss of performance by doing this and you will gain whatever advantage the larger memory pool can give.

They might or might not play together, mixing sets can be and often is problematic, even of the same exact models. Best to get a single set of the full amount you want then if the old will play with new it's a bonus, else can use in another rig or sell to recoup some of your expenditure
