Motherboard: gigabyte GA-870A-USB3
using an amd phenom ii x4 840
4 gb of ram. 8gb of virtual memory (dont know what this is just reading my system info).

and an ATI Radeon HD 5570. The motherboard supports another GPU slot, but was wondering if i can use a GeForce 6800GS with the ATI?

Solution
Older drivers might conflict but many times mixing amd and nvidia works fine. But it won't help. The primary gpu will be doing everything, the other just does nothing except let you use more monitors unless the software let's you choose gpu for gpu rendering or something.
