Hey, i'm about to upgrade my pc for gaming. i used to play alot about 5 years ago but moved off it but i'm getting back into it but my parts are heavily outdated. i have an intel core 2 duo e7200 OC to 3.5GHz, 4gb ddr2 memory, a gts 250 and a cooler master 600w psu. right now, i can only afford one upgrade, a gpu, or cpu+mobo+ram bundle. the cpu would be a fx 6300, and the gpu woud be a r9 270x, what should i upgarde first.

Solution
Definitely CPU and mobo. Everything that happens in your computer is related to the CPU, in fact, get a good enough CPU and you may not need a new graphics card depending on the games you play. The integrated graphics on i5s and i7s is pretty good nowadays.

With respect, that is not a good choice, first off, performance > cosmetics, so your case is the least of your concerns. Secondly, 4GB of ram is hardly enough for gaming, and i3 is not a good choice for a budget build, in fact, intel is not a good choice for budget builds. It will also bottleneck the GTX 960.

You should have picked this up:
FX 6300
8GB ram
R7 260X or R9 280 if you have the money

sorry but what are you on about. An i3 is a LOT better than the fx6300(it's also £10 more exspensive but won't require a AM cooler due to lower heat output) in games and even though it only has 2 cores, all games that i am playing will only require 1-2 cores. 4GB of RAM is also more than enough for gaming so for the moment i will stay at 4gb and upgrade to 8GB when i need to ie: when i get another monitor. an r9 280 is also about £70-80 more expensive than the r7 260x and the 280/280x is the equivalent of nvidias gtx 960 and my i3 is far from being a bottleneck. And i only said about my case because it is an awesome case.
