I tried googling, but all I got was answers related to using USB hubs.

I'm planning to take my keyboard to and from work daily and was wondering if I could be wearing out the ports or the keyboard's plug prematurely. I would like to know the designed life expectancy of USB ports. And if 2.0 and 3.0 have different lifespan. I've read somewhere that SATA cables/ports are designed for only 50 pluggings but been having faulty connections only after playing around with them ~10 times. So I'm hoping USB has more than that since we use the front ports more than once daily for thumb drives and whatnot.

Yes if I do the math, it's 5 days a week, 52 weeks in a year, so about 1000 operations in 5 year (about time I'll get bored and buy a new keyboard). I'm broke as heck right now but once I get paid I will buy one to leave at work but I'm just wondering. So thanks in advance for all your possible alternative solutions in y'all's head but now I'm just curious how long a USB port/plug is supposed to last. If you could quote some documentation for proof that would be sweet. Thank you.
