Fuzzy / Grainy HDMI Display

I have a Asus Gtx 760 2gb OC and have experienced issues when connecting using HDMI. In the past, I have used VGA to DVI because I had an older monitor that did not support HDMI , and experienced no issues and wonderful display because my GPU is pretty powerful. I was recently given my brothers old Sceptre x240bv 24' monitor / tv that my dad had found and started experiencing issues with the display when using HDMI.

The display is very fuzzy / grainy and everything just does not appear as it should. I mean, the color is great, it recognizes the resolution, etc, but the font and texts are very sharp , grainy, and hard to read(i have turned down sharpness). I have done plenty of research and googling on this topic and tried just about everything, from messing around with my NVIDIA Control Panel , TV settings , Display settings , you name it, I have done it

I can not simply find a solution to this and I don't think many other people can on the internet as I have read and not found a good solution. PLEASE HELP!:??:

I do not know what you mean by 'Better to get a real monitor." as my brother has used it as both a TV and Gaming Monitor for the past few years and this HDTV had excellent gaming performance. This is the first time hooking it up to my new Gaming Computer I purchased recently and confused as to why it is giving me such poor quality.

Also it works great with VGA and is a lot better than HDMI but the digital display of HDMI should be better which is why I am trying to get to the bottom of this.

Some TV's display better than others - most that do have a "PC-Mode" that they run in (just having a VGA connector doesn't mean it works well).

TV signal and computer based signals are different, TV's are optimized for the TV signals and monitors are optimized for the PC's.

This was written in very basic terms....trying not to get too technical and bore everyone.....

It sounds like you guys are trying to say this TV is not good and I should get a new one. This is considered a monitor as well as it is 1920 x 1080 1080p so I am not really buying that I just need to spend hundreds on a new monitor.

Hi,

I had the SAME problem and the solution was to setup the video output properly in the HDTV section. You say you've done so, so I'm not sure what else to say.

*It's worth noting that HDMI may not look much different from VGA. I can't tell any difference on my Sony HDTV at a casual glance plus I've had 1600x1200 monitors using VGA in the past with small, sharp text. In fact, I ended up using VGA anyway because for some reason I could get 1080p working fine but not at 60FPS, only 30FPS (I have an older Sony but it should have worked).

Hi there!

Honestly, I just want this to work which is why I may end up using VGA if I cannot get this HDMI to display properly.

What do you mean by setup the video output properly? I've tried looking for different settings in the monitor but they are pretty basic settings, nothing to set it up to a PC type or anything like that. Please provide more feedback if you could.
