I am buying a Asus N56JN notebook and it comes with a HDD and CD drive. I'm replacing the CD drive with a SSD. My question is what do i do after i have migrated/reinstalled Windows 8.1 (which comes on the already installed HDD) onto the SSD? Do I format my HDD? Do I have to erase the windows 8.1 that is on the HDD since I'm now booting from my SSD? Thanks.

Solution
Once you've migrated the OS, disconnect the HDD, set your boot priority in BIOS so that the SSD is the selected boot drive, and make sure that it'll boot from the SSD. If it boots without problem, then reinstall the HDD and reformat it.
