Hi i am planning to install linux on my computer Ubuntu or mint. If I choose mint which version is good cinnamon, mate, kde, or xfce

Solution
Try them all (using Live USB sticks). You only need to use them for a few minutes to see the most significant differences. I personally have been using XUbuntu (ie Ubuntu + XFCE desktop), which is almost identical to Mint-XFCE. A lot of people like the KDE desktop (KUbuntu and Minti-KDE). I personally do not like the mainstream Ubuntu desktop. To some extent it also depends on your computer hardware and your personal preferences. Find one you like, install, and enjoy!

Linus uses Gnome 3 (on Fedora) for some years now

We'll have to agree to disagree. I'm always going to prefer a lightweight Desktop environment to the increasing bloat that characterizes Gnome and KDE. I need my desktop to let me do things with the minimum of fuss; I'm not really bothered about pretty interfaces.
