sadly, i've tried this about a billion times with no luck, i messed around with the bios settings to try and get my windows 8.1 disc to boot because it was just showing a orange screen, then i changed a boot sequence...now it won't let me even access bios anymore at all. it's just stuck on that screen.

Try resetting the bios with the jumper on your motherboard.

That's what i want to do, i have found the CMOS pins, but there isn't any jumper on it? (this is my first pc build, completely a noob) the two pins are at the bottom but nothing is on them.

Try this:

Turn PSU off
Take the CMOS battery out on the bottom of your motherboard
Hold power button for about 20 seconds
Put battery back in
Turn PSU back on

right now it set up as:

1. my 128gb ssd
2. external optical drive with windows 8.1 disc in it
3. UEFI (I have no idea what this is)
4. Western digital 1tb hdd

For installing windows, there's no need to change it (in most cases)
If you insert the cd, it will probably ask "Press enter if you want to boot from cd" or something like that.

In that case, set the external optical drive to number 1
