Hi Tom's Hardware! Quick question, does the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 support network connections straight out of the box, or does a network component need to be added? Sorry, I'm new to mobile stuff.. Thanks!

Solution

it does supports 2G,3G,4G,802.11n/ac. you dont have to add any antenna to it, you cant find it on google because there is no such things for phones.

First of all, thanks for responding! And, you know, your general: 2G, 3G, 4G, 802.11 n/ac (maybe ad?) Stuff like that. Oh, would you have to add an antenna? I presume you would, but what sorta size would it be? You can't really find these things on the Googles..

From an end-user standpoint there's nothing you need to add/buy beyond the phone itself. All smartphones will support some combination of 3G/4G/LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Many also add NFC.

The Snapdragon 810 specifically, like many SoCs, comes with an integrated modem on die (Cat 9 LTE in this case). Smartphone OEMs will still need to add additional chips, like an antennae switch and power amplifier for transmit, in addition to the necessary antennas to fully support cellular service. Also, NFC, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth are implemented with separate chips and are not integrated into the 810 die.
