video card worth buying?

so I have a pc ordered which had I think intel hd 4400; up to 4GB shared.
I know built in graphics r "meh" so i was wondering, if I bought a 1GB pci express if it would be better than using the built in one.

don't wanna spend money on something that would be a downgrade.

Solution
Pretty much any discrete GPU will be an upgrade over integrated graphics. Just buying a "1GB" gpu, is not a good idea, however. The amount of VRAM is not a good measure of performance, especially for low end cards. The best card you can get without upgrading your PSU is a GTX 750ti. It comes in a 1gb and a 2gb version. Either would be fine. You could save a little money and get a gtx 750 also. I wouldn't recommend going any lower.

the PC i ordered
i dont do much apart from league of legends, Blizzard games, maybe try ff14 arr in future.
im not after "running max settings and 60fps"
just hoping for like medium settings and 20-30 fps mayb?

That's a good card, but it does require a 6 pin power connector that the OP's PSU may not have. I would recommend getting one that does not require auxiliary power like this one:

While a GPU is definitely worth having, it really is not necessary to meet the requirements of 20fps at low/medium settings for the games listed.
