I hope someone can help me.

I have built a PC for the first time and it went well. (i5 4690k, msi z97 MOBO, Kingston 240gb SSD, r9 290 gpu and windows 8.1)

It was working fine for a couple of days but 240gb storage was not enough. I had an old 1tb HDD with Windows 7 OS installed from my old PC.

I placed it into my new PC, I had to swap cables with my SSD as the Sata was not long enough but I kept the SSD in the same MOBO slot just used a new cable.

I have then booted and gone to bios. The priorities were set to Dvd drive > ssd > HDD.

When I have rebooted it has started to load windows 7 then BSOD. I double checked priority and it was still correct so I unplugged the HDD and attempted to boot as normal and the computer asked me at attach a boot device or boot from dvd.

I put the windows 8.1 dvd into the drive and tried to boot it, it said SSD locked, unlock drive and try again.

I have no idea what this means. I then reinstalled the HDD. And it would still not load so I tried to reinstall 8.1 on the HDD but it cannot as there is a "running" copy of windows installed.

I have then restarted and selected boot manager from bios and have booted from the SSD. I reformatted the HDD so it is empty now and tried to reboot and load from the ssd. Still will not boot from it unless I enter via boot manager.

How can I fix it so that my computer allows me to boot from SSD normally?
