does RAID10 array grow when last drive is replaced?

i'm putting together a RAID10 array for an office file server**, and i'm curious as to what happens after N months. let's say i build it using an existing 2TB drive and 3 new 1TB drives. clearly, the final RAID10 array will only be 2TB in total since it's dictated by the smallest drive in the array.

months later, i might have to replace some of the drives as they fail, and rebuild the array. let's assume i replace any dead 1TB drives with new 2TB drives. during that time, the array is still 2TB due to smallest drive. once THAT drive gets swapped out for a 2TB drive, what happens?

does my final array grow from 2TB to 4TB on its own without any special additional rebuild? or does it stay locked at 2TB until i reset it and copy files from a backup?

initial: 2+1+1+1 = 2
then: 2+2+1+1 = 2
then: 2+2+2+1 = 2
final: 2+2+2+2 = ??

** RAID10 is built using onboard controller from ASRock C226 WS mobo

Unless your RAID has online expansion feature, then you can expand the RAID physical volume, then expand partition volume,. It's a two steps process
During physical expansion, if any glitches like power outage, system hang up and need to reboot, you may get data corruption.

RAID expansion is not for an average person, it's an IT job :)

Most of the RAID do not offer expansion - only enterprise RAID card does
