Hello,
when i plug my WD passport, it gets detected, it shows Drive, but whatever content(950gb) i had in it is NOT SHOWN. Few days ago i scaned with an Antivirus and it detected some Malware, but later it was cleaned.
Since the whatever content i previously stored in it is not Shown.
While the disk properties still show 950gb Used space and also i can see all the contents being scanned when i scan it with a Antivirus!!!
Plz can anyone tell me what the problem is coz i hav a hell lot of important data in it.

Solution
Some malware converts your files into Hidden Files then ransoms you for money to be told how to recover them. It's a scam and they woldn't tell you even if you paid them.

In My Computer, select the drive letter for the Passport then from the Tools menu, choose Folder Options then the View tab. Scroll down and tick to Show all Hidden Files and Folders" then further down, untick "Hide Protected System files and folders". Click Apply and OK your way out.

Do you see your files now?

Hey there, pinking!

I'd suggest to follow Saga Lout's steps as well. However, if the data on the drive is somehow corrupted by this virus, I strongly recommend backing it up somewhere else. Doing this will definitely give you some peace of mind and prevent the consequences of data loss.
I'd even re-format the external securely ( http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=hcsLKJ ) and then transfer the data back to it.
Better safe than sorry, right? :)

Hope this was helpful!

Hey there again, pinking!

Maybe this link will help you: https://askleo.com/my_machines_full_of_malware_should_i_get_a_new_computer/
It is a pretty good article about malware removal and several different approaches to how to solve your issue! :)

Hope it helps!

I've no experience of the product SuperSoph_WD's link recommends but I deal with a lot of malware in my PC fixing business and normally use ComboFix where all others have failed to clear everything out. I would start with MalwareBytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org and only move up to ComboFix if I suspected anything nasty remains.

It's a free utility from http://www.combofix.org but be careful how you download it. Skip the large buttons and concentrate on the smaller inks - preferably the ones that take you to www.bleepingcomputer.com for the download. Once it starts to work, do nothing until it shows you the report, even if it restarts the system itself. Wait for a few seconds after you open the report to make sure eveything is finished then restart.
