I am looking for a gaming pc for casual games. The price margin set is around £500-600. I've been contemplating the alienware x51 i3 version because it's small and looks decent. Any suggestions?

Most people will suggest you build the PC yourself, as this is how you save the most money or get the best bang/buck. Most pre-built PC's are ripping you off somewhere in the parts (this is not always the case but generally). Are you completely opposed to building it yourself? I must say it's quite simple, and a lot of fun. Also increases the amount of upgradeability.

This would be my suggestion if building yourself:

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor (£109.98 @ Amazon UK)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£24.97 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: ASRock 990FX Extreme3 ATX AM3+/AM3...

The above build would be if you want the ability to overclock the CPU, which is why I included the 212 evo. If you didn't want to overclock you can swap out the CPU for an i5 4460+H97 Motherboard, and drop the 212 evo.

You are overpaying for Alienware. Prebuilds tend to not be very good gaming rigs, for the money.

Agreed, you will usually find that they cheaped out on the graphics card/psu (from what I usually see).
